No suspects arrested in connection with June 28 double murder
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – More than three weeks after Ian Elliot Porter, 48, and Raymond Adderley, 46, were gunned down in front of a residence in Star Estates subdivision, off Prince Charles, Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash, officer in charge of the Central Detective Unit (CDU), said authorities had not yet solved the double murder, but remain “relentless” in finding those responsible.
“We still have a team of investigators looking at those particular homicides,” Cash told Eyewitness News Online.
“It’s too early for us to say now that we are looking at any particular person of interest, so much so as to identify a suspect.
“But we can tell you for certain, we will be relentless in our investigation with that particular matter.
“We are hopeful that at some date we will be able to bring more to the public; to say a little bit more to the media, but our teams are actively investigating that.”
Porter, of Star Estates, and Adderley, of Blue Hill Heights, were killed on June 28.
According to authorities, shortly after noon, officers responding to reports of gunshots in the area of Jupiter Way found the men lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.
Earlier this month, Police Commissioner Anthony Ferguson said authorities were following significant leads into the double murder.
“We are following some leads with respect to that, but I am not yet satisfied that we have the kind of level of comfort that I would want to say anything else on that,” said Ferguson, during a press briefing CDU.
Porter and Adderley’s killings marked the 45thand 46thmurders for 2019.
Data released by the Royal Bahamas Police Force for the first half of the year, shows that murders have declined 17 percent, with 54 murders between January 1 and June 30, 2018, compared to 45 murders during the same period this year.
Following the incident, police said Porter was known to police.
In January 2016, Porter was charged along with six other men and a woman in connection with the discovery of 341 pounds of marijuana in a Dodge Caravan outside a residence on Eastern Road.
He was charged in May of that year in connection with a plot to have Oneil Marshall, a key witness in an abetment to murder case of Stephen “Die’ Stubbs and Giovanni Roberts, killed.
Marshall was placed in protective custody, but reportedly left the program.
He was found in a car in the parking lot of the abandoned building that once housed City Meat Market on Market Street on May 1.
