NASSAU, BAHAMAS: Police have arrested a 17-year-old male after officers searching a residence on Amos Ferguson Street discovered a firearm fitted with an extended magazine and ammunition hidden beneath a large ficus tree.
According to the preliminary report, shortly before 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7th, officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Canine Support Unit, proceeded to an address on Amos Ferguson Street armed with a search warrant and acting on information received.
Upon arrival, officers met the 17-year-old male at the residence, along with three adult females.
A search of the residence was conducted in connection with dangerous drugs, firearms and stolen property; however, nothing illegal was discovered inside the home.
Officers subsequently searched the yard, during which a police canine indicated toward a large ficus tree.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the area and discovered a firearm fitted with an extended magazine containing a quantity of ammunition.
As a result, the 17-year-old male was arrested and cautioned in connection with the discovery.
The investigation remains ongoing.
