WE’LL TAKE IT: Auto dealers welcome 15 percent sales improvement

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamian auto dealers saw a 15 percent increase in vehicle sales last year compared to 2021, according to Bahamas Motor Dealers Association (BMDA) president Ben Albury.

Albury, The Bahamas Bus & Truck General Manager noted that the industry, like many others, is still being challenged by price volatility, shipping cost increases, and global supply chain backlogs.

“We’re coming along,” he said.

“We’re actually having some good foot traffic. The biggest challenge I’m having is that there are still production delays and obviously that’s having a ripple effect. Price increases are very much the norm. That’s still our main concern and challenge getting product. Those are the two biggest issues right now. However whenever I do get a product it does seem to sell very quickly,” Albury said.

He added: “Last year was certainly better than the year before. It was an improvement both in terms of our company and the Motor Dealers Association as a whole. I think it was about a 15 percent increase in new vehicle sales overall for The Bahamas Motor Dealers Association. It was pretty good. We’ll certainly take it.”
