NASSAU, BAHAMAS: Three men are in police custody after officers assigned to Operation Black Scorpion allegedly found illegal ammunition during a patrol off Meadow Street Thursday night.
Police said officers were on routine mobile patrol shortly after 9:20 p.m. in the area of Hutchinson Street when they observed three men inside a Nissan Cube behaving suspiciously.
The occupants, ages 21, 23 and 24, were instructed to exit the vehicle and complied.
According to police, a search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of ammunition. Officers also allegedly found additional ammunition hidden inside the tennis shoe of one of the occupants.
The three men were arrested, cautioned and are assisting police with the investigation.
Operation Black Scorpion is a joint law enforcement initiative involving officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
Investigations remain ongoing.
