Thirty-nine Pizza Hut employees redeployed by Myers Group, remaining accept packages

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Thirty-nine employees affected by the Myers Group’s decision to close the Pizza Hut franchise will be deployed to other restaurants operated by the group Labour Director Howard Thompson confirmed yesterday.

Thompson noted that 46 persons were employed between three Pizza Hut locations in Nassau; Saunders Beach, Carmichael Road, and Prince Charles Drive. According to Thompson, the 39 employees who chose to remain with the Myers Group will deployed to other restaurants operated by the group at equal or greater salaries. Seven employees voluntarily took packages.

“The Minister of Labour and I have been in constant communication with The Myers Group since 5th December assisting with the closure of the Pizza Hut brand,” Thompson noted.

A notice was posted on the Pizza Hut Nassau Facebook page at 10 am Monday announcing the closures; however, Eyewitness News revealed the closure before that announcement after customers took to social media Sunday night indicating that they were informed by staff that January 14 was the restaurant’s final day of operation.

The Myers Group was founded in 1992 by hotelier and businessman George Myers who died in February 2023. The group operates the Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Kentucky franchises as well, with an employee base of more than 1,000.
