NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some of the most influential athletes in the world will be in The Bahamas this weekend vacationing and conducting business.
During the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) All-Star Weekend break, over 100 NBA players and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) representatives will attend exclusive viewing parties, comedy shows and poolside events at Rosewood Baha Mar.
The three-day initiative is part of a sponsorship deal for One Court Bahamas between the NBPA and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
The announcement of the partnership was made yesterday at a press conference. Speakers included Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar, CEO of Family Office Experience Sports Christopher Quincy, THINK 450 Brand Officer Que Gaskins, event co-organizer Jeff Rodgers and Vice President of Casino Marketing Tom Tuchschmidt.
“We are a nation with a special love for the game basketball, and we are ecstatic to roll out the red carpet this weekend to the players of the NBA union and their guests,” D’Aguilar. “The Rosewood at Baha Mar has pulled out all the stops to ensure that this weekend will be unforgettable for all.
“We are so pleased that Bahamas Tourism has joined us as a sponsor four our premier player activation. We know our players will be excited to relax in this beautiful location and enjoy the first-class hospitality of the island.”
According to Quincy, who has been on the island the past several months laying the groundwork for the event, The Bahamas was a popular choice amongst the players with a vote on a destination for the midseason meeting.
“It’s been a very exciting and interesting learning process getting to know everyone here in The Bahamas,” he said. “Without Jeff, this initiative probably wouldn’t be happening. He has been amazing. I’m glad I can represent the NBPA here and do business here. This place has a lot of basketball knowledge and relationships, so it was a very natural thing. Baha Mar has helped me out with everything that I needed. Also, the minister has been very open to our vision and how we can make this a long-term partnership.”
The NBPA is the union for current professional basketball players in the NBA. Established in 1954, the conceivable measure is taken to assist players in maximizing their opportunities and achieving their goals, on and off the court.
