NASSAU, BAHAMAS: CARJACKING: Police are searching for a masked man who allegedly stole a woman’s SUV after smashing a window and struggling with her during a brazen daylight robbery on Market Street Thursday afternoon.
According to police, shortly after 2 p.m., a 50-year-old woman was parked in her white 2025 Changan CS35 with a red stripe outside a business establishment on Market Street when she was approached by a tall, dark-complexioned man wearing a mask.
Police said the suspect allegedly shattered the vehicle’s front passenger-side window before climbing inside, where a struggle ensued as he attempted to steal the woman’s purse.
The woman managed to escape the vehicle and ran to a nearby business for safety.
Police said the suspect then drove away in the victim’s SUV, which also contained her cellular phone and other personal belongings. He reportedly fled south along Market Street and escaped.
The victim was later taken to hospital for medical attention.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
