The Bahamas men’s national basketball team is now 0-4 through the first round of the 2019 International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) Americas World Cup Qualifying process.
Team Bahamas suffered its latest loss at home on Sunday afternoon against Canada, falling, 113-67, at the Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium.
Brady Heslip had a team-high 19 points for Canada and Anthony Bennet, Adika Peter-McNeill and Thomas Scrubb had 10 points each.
Jaraun “Kino” Burrows led the Bahamas with 17 points. Michael Carey had 15 points and Eugene Bain added 11.
Canada used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to grow its lead to 36-23 and entered the half with a 21-point advantage.
The Bahamas suffered a 96-63 loss to the Dominican Republic on Friday, and also suffered two losses in November to Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Team Bahamas plays its final two games on the road on Friday, June 29 in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Monday, July 2 in the Dominican Republic.
The Bahamas is in Group D along with Canada, Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each team faces the other three teams on a home and away basis with the top three teams from each group advancing to the second round.
