NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On the heels of a Weather Threats and Preparedness Workshop hosted by the Rotary Club Nassau in conjunction with Storm Interceptors Weather Network, the Rotary Club of Nassau donated three mobile lightning detection units and one Advanced Davis Pro weather instrument to Storm Interceptors Weather Network on December 22, 2021.
On hand to receive the donation was Storm Interceptors Weather Network Founder Craig Lowe, who thanked Rotary for the generous and timely donation.
According to Lowe: “Data received from these devices will assist storm and hurricane interceptors with accurate in-storm reports.
“Additionally, data will be distributed to the Bahamas Meteorological Office, National Hurricane Center, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas (RCOB) with the first look at the disaster analysis and reports.”
Rotary Club President Michael Wilson said: “Rotary is pleased to donate these much-needed weather tracking equipment, which will play an integral role in providing impact-based alerts for storm spotters and advanced information for boaters and sailors coming into New Providence.”
The Nassau Yacht Club has kindly agreed have the Advanced Davis Pro weather instrument mounted at its East Bay Street location.
Members of Rotary Club Nassau, in conjunction with storm interceptors, are looking forward to another informative and educational Weather Preparedness Seminar in 2022, where some of the world’s top storm chasers will be available to educate members on how to safely track storms throughout The Bahamas.
