Police confirm missing woman Evalena Johnson was victim in fatal Shirley Street traffic collision

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- The Royal Bahamas Police Force has confirmed that missing woman Evalena Johnson was one of the victims killed in Sunday’s fatal traffic collision at Shirley and Church Streets, bringing a tragic end to the search after family members formally identified her on Tuesday morning.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to provide an update regarding the reported missing person, Evalena Johnson.

On Monday, 29th June, 2026, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department received a missing-person report from a 22-year-old relative, who stated that she and other family members had neither seen nor heard from their cousin since Saturday, 27th June, 2026. Ms. Johnson was reportedly last seen in the Adelaide Village area.

In response, police issued a missing person flyer seeking the public’s assistance in locating her.

Police can now confirm that Ms. Johnson was positively identified by family members today, Tuesday, 30th June, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m. She was one of the victims of the fatal traffic collision that occurred in the area of Shirley Street and Church Streets on Sunday, 28th June, 2026.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force extends its deepest condolences to Ms. Johnson’s family and loved ones, as well as to all families across The Bahamas who have suffered the loss of loved ones.
