New Providence man charged with drug offences

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Michael Turnquest, 35, of Indigo Drive, West Bay Street, was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court today with four drug-related offences.

Turnquest, who appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes, was charged with one count each of possession of dangerous drugs, conspiracy of possession, importation of dangerous drugs and conspiracy of importation of dangerous drugs.

According to police, the suspect was arrested on March 4 after officers found a suitcase containing a quantity of suspected marijuana brownies, marijuana gummy bear candies and suspected Indian Hemp oil at a residence in the western district of New Providence.

Turnquest pleaded not guilty to all charges and was granted $7,000 bail.

The matter was adjourned to June 23.
