The Cabinet Office wishes to advise the general public that Wednesday, December 26, 2018, and Tuesday, January 1, 2019, will be observed as Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. As a result, stores wishing to do so may open for business on these holidays during normal business hours.
Employers are to note, however, that employees who are normally not required to work on holidays, must be paid wages in accordance with section 10 (a) of the Employment Act.
