Alleged child abductor charged with four counts of abduction

“I hope they’re happy now,” she tells the court before being remanded

NASSAU, BAHAMS – A psychiatric report from the Sandilands Rehabilitation Center presented in the magistrate court on Monday, deemed the alleged serial child abductor, De’edra Gibson, fit to enter a plea to the charges levied against her.

The 29-year-old beautician was shielded from media cameras by police as she returned to court for allegedly abducting four young boys from various locations throughout New Providence earlier this year.

It is alleged that Gibson abducted three eight-year-olds and one three-year-old between February 16th and March 29th.

Before the arraignment got underway, the defendant was tearful and shaking, wiping her face with the collar of her jacket.

The accused was charged with four counts of abduction and pleaded not guilty to all counts. Gibson elected for her matter to be heard before the Supreme Court.

Gibson has been transferred from the local mental facility and remanded to The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until June 24thfor the presentation of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.

Before leaving, the defendant lamented, “I hope they’re happy now!”
