NASSAU, BAHAMAS: A 28-year-old man has been arrested after police seized a firearm and ammunition during a routine patrol operation in the West Street area.
Police said the arrest occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, as officers assigned to Operation Black Scorpion were conducting patrols.
According to the preliminary report, officers observed a group of males who became suspicious upon seeing police.
Police said the men sped away on motorcycles, leading officers on a brief pursuit.
Two of the men were eventually captured.
During a search of one of the individuals, officers discovered and confiscated a firearm containing a quantity of ammunition.
The 28-year-old male was arrested, cautioned and taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The investigation is continuing.
Operation Black Scorpion is a joint initiative involving officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist with these investigations to contact 911, 919, their nearest police station or the Traffic Division.
