NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The U.S. Embassy Nassau, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Administration (ITA), is launching a Global Diversity Export Initiative (GDEI) Trade Mission in The Bahamas from November 20-23, 2024.
Seven U.S. companies will participate in the three-day mission to foster business-to-business (B2B) engagements with Bahamian companies and investors. This initiative targets key sectors such as beauty, construction, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology (IT), and franchising.
The GDEI Trade Mission aims to expand export opportunities for U.S. small and medium-sized businesses led or owned by minorities and promote their entry into the Caribbean market. Bahamian companies will have a unique opportunity to explore partnerships with these diverse U.S. enterprises.
“The trade mission provides an opportunity for Bahamian businesses to connect with U.S. companies across a range of industries directly,” says Chuck Bennett, U.S. Embassy Nassau Commercial Officer. “We aim to build partnerships that drive economic growth and innovation in The Bahamas, strengthening our trade relationships.”
The GDEI Trade Mission will begin in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on November 17-18, 2024. Participants will meet one-on-one with service providers, U.S. officials, diplomats, and industry specialists from nine Caribbean countries, including the Bahamas.
This marks the first U.S. Department of Commerce trade mission to The Bahamas since the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are excited to bring these U.S. companies to The Bahamas and encourage Bahamian businesses to take advantage of this B2B engagement,” says Bianca Bethel-Sawyer, U.S. Embassy Nassau Commercial Specialist. “It’s a fantastic platform for local companies to explore new collaborations and gain valuable insights from U.S. firms.”
