UPDATE: LPIA operations still hindered by global IT outage

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The global IT outage continues to impact operations at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), according to an update released by the Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) at 5pm.

Airline operators are experiencing significant delays in arriving and departing flights, particularly those operating from the US departure terminal. Some airlines are estimating delays of 2-5 hours for both inbound and outbound flights.

Passengers are being processed through checkpoints in all terminals. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) has returned to its main operating system and, as of last update, is continuing to process passengers.

Retail and Food and beverage operators are reporting challenges with payment processing, and ATMs in terminals are working intermittently.

LPIA passengers are encouraged to contact their airlines directly to obtain the most up-to-date information on their flight status.

The statement continued, “We ask the traveling public for continued patience as LPIA stakeholders work to mitigate the fallout from this global issue.”
