President of the University of The Bahamas (UB) Dr. Rodney Smith set the record straight Friday on controversial statement made by Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis on free tuition.

While admitting that tuition at the university is already free for some students, Dr. Smith said, the newly proposed scholarships will allow for more Bahamians to attend college free of charge.

He did, however, note that there will still be stipulations regarding the criteria for eligibility for the scholarship.
