Sandals Foundation donates $100,000 to Bahamas Girl Guides Association

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Sandals Foundation, in one of its largest contributions to date, has donated $100,000 to the Bahamas Girl Guides Association towards the completion of the organization’s new headquarters.

Architect and project manager Alvan Rolle during a press conference last week highlighted the pressing need for improved facilities, stating that the Girl Guides have outgrown their existing space.

The ongoing project has a price tag of $1.4 million, excluding elevator, generator, and site work costs. Rolle emphasized the urgency of acquiring additional funds, targeting a goal of $200,000 to facilitate the move into the building which he said is 80 percent completed. The new facility is situated at the corner situated at the foot of Fort Charlotte.

Nicholas Abrusacto, Hotel Manager at Sandals Royal Bahamian, expressed pride in the $100,000 donation, emphasizing its significance as one of the largest contributions made by the Sandals Foundation.

Dr Ruth Sumner, President of The Bahamas Girl Guides, underscored the organization’s longstanding presence in the Bahamas for over 100 years, boasting 1,600 guides and approximately 150 volunteers nationwide. She appealed to the community for support, urging all those interested to contribute to the organization’s ongoing efforts.
