NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is moving ahead with “site prep” for its Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island, according to the club’s president and RCI’s local general manager, Philip Simon.
Simon told Eyewitness News that it is hoped that construction will begin in the second quarter of this year as RCI aims to open its beach club destination next summer.
“Our goal remains the summer of next year for opening. We have been quite diligent in our preparations in terms of designing the various spaces. Before you get to that, several structures have been there dilapidated for many years that need to be removed. That process involves the demolition of those structures and the removal of waste that’s been there for a while. Hopefully, construction will begin in the second quarter. We would have a year of construction and have to move into the RFPs with our various partners because, as promised, the operations of the Royal Beach Club will be outsourced to Bahamian companies.”
Simon noted that RCI held several workshops with local businesses and entrepreneurs to highlight the potential opportunities for them at the beach club destination.
“This project represents a great partnership between a very well-known and successful company, the Bahamian people, and the government of the Bahamas. There is a lot of interest and excitement about it.”
The government approved Royal Caribbean International (RCI) last spring for its $100 million beach club project on Paradise Island.
