NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Queens College (QC) Comets remained ahead of the private schools pack, following the second day of the 2019 Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS) Track and Field Championships.
The Comets finished day two with 737 points.
The SAC Big Red Machine currently sits in second with 720 points, followed by St. John’s with 221.83 and Temple Christian with 205.5.
St. Anne’s rounds out the top five with 126.67 points.
The 100-meters (m), 400m hurdles and 4x400m relays highlighted the second day of competition.
On the track, Jaida Knowles of SAC won the under-20 (u20) girls 100m dash in 11.57 seconds; Adrian Curry of SAC won the u20 boys’ event in 10.55 seconds; Joshua Miller of SAC took the u17 event in 11.03 seconds and Anthiya Charlton of SAC won the u17 girls race in 11.84 seconds.
In the only long-distance final of the day, Andrew Hepburn of QC took the u17 boys 3,000m run in 10:04.92.
On the field, Vinajah Adderley of SAC won the u20 girls long jump with a leap of 5.41m; Stephen Farquharson of SAC won the u17 boys long jump with a mark of 5.99m and Sean Rolle of QC took the u20 boys javelin throw with a toss of 59.05m
The championships wrap up today at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
