The drugs weighed at 1.6 pounds, and valued at $1,060.00. The second recovery took place in Bullocks Harbour, Berry Islands.
According to police, officers on routine patrol stopped a black car with two men inside shortly before 6pm on Thursday. After a search of the vehicle, a box with two pounds of suspected marijuana was found in the trunk. One man was reportedly taken into custody. The drugs have an estimated street value of $2,000.
Meanwhile, Berry Island Division officers arrested a man for possession of an illegal firearm. According to reports, officers went to the government dock in Bullocks Harbour, where they saw a man exit a vehicle and walk to the rear of the restrooms with an object in his hand.
The officers approached the man, and recovered a 9mm firearm after a search of the area of the restroom where he was seen.
The men in all three matters are expected to be formally charged in Magistrate’s Court.
