NASSAU, BAHAMAS: Orlando-based Westgate Resorts is expanding into the Caribbean with the opening of Westgate Bimini Bay, its first Caribbean destination, marking the hospitality company’s latest move to grow its international vacation portfolio and strengthen its presence in The Bahamas.
The company announced Tuesday that Westgate Bimini Bay, located on North Bimini, will begin welcoming rental and Owner exchange reservations for arrivals from October 1, 2026.
Westgate Resorts Chief Executive Officer Jim Gissy said the Bimini property represents “an exciting milestone” as the company expands the Westgate experience into new destinations.
“The Bahamas is one of the most desirable vacation destinations in the world, and Bimini’s natural beauty, rich culture and proximity to Florida make it an ideal location for our first Caribbean property,” Gissy said.
The new destination is located just 50 miles from the Florida coast and is accessible by commercial airline, ferry or private boat.
Westgate Bimini Bay features newly renovated studio and two-bedroom villas designed for relaxed island living, with the fully furnished accommodations able to sleep up to four or six guests respectively.
The property is positioned to attract families, couples and visitors interested in fishing and other Caribbean experiences, with white-sand beaches and turquoise waters nearby, as well as access to boating, snorkeling, diving and other water-based activities.
In partnership with local Bahamians, onsite management will be handled by G&G Luxury Property Management, described by Westgate as the premier Bimini property management company.
The expansion comes as The Bahamas continues to experience strong visitor demand. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, the country recorded a record 12.5 million visitors in 2025, up from 11.2 million in 2024.
Westgate said the Bimini opening builds on its continued growth and follows its strategic investment in a Bimini real estate development announced last year.
The company said the new location further strengthens its position as a leading hospitality company while giving its Owners and guests access to an international vacation destination.
Westgate Resorts is headquartered in Orlando, Florida, and operates a portfolio of nearly 60 resort properties. The company describes itself as a diversified hospitality company featuring the largest privately held timeshare resort club in the world.
Its destinations include Orlando, Las Vegas, Gatlinburg, Park City and Myrtle Beach. In 2025, Westgate expanded its footprint with the addition of VI Resorts by Westgate, increasing its presence in the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
Founded in 1982, Westgate has approximately 9,000 team members.
Rental reservations and Owner exchange reservations for Westgate Bimini Bay are now available for arrivals beginning October 1, 2026.
