ORG appoints new head of Economic Development Committee

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Organization for Responsible Governance (ORG) has appointed Hubert Edwards as head of its Economic Committee.

The managing consultant at Next Level Solutions, Edwards is a former senior bank executive, senior auditor and regulatory consulting manager with one of the leading public accounting firms in the country, as well as senior bank examiner with the Central Bank of The Bahamas.

He is a fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (UK); a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica; a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS); a member of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA); and holds an MBA with distinction from the University of Manchester. He also holds an LLB with First Class Honours from Huddersfield University.

Matt Aubry, ORG Bahamas’ executive director, said his team is excited to have Edwards on board.

“ORG is very excited to have Hubert Edwards, one of The Bahamas’ economic visionaries, at the helm of the Economic Development Committee,” Aubry said.

“He will be leading a diverse group of volunteers as they look to partner with government and the private sector to research and identify actionable policies and opportunities to sustainably grow GDP in The Bahamas.

“Hubert is incredibly thorough in his analysis of policies and the committee will look to promote greater understanding among the public about the Bahamian economy and the forces that affect it.”

A regular contributor to newspapers and current affairs discussions across multiple media platforms, Edwards also lectured on several subject matters including risk management, anti-money laundering and compliance and corporate governance.

He is a media practitioner and an engaging and transformational John Maxwell Team certified speaker, coach and trainer and member of the Florida Speakers Association, specializing in leadership training and coaching.

Edwards said: “This opportunity to chair the Economic Development Committee is a much-welcomed continuation of my efforts to contribute to the growth and development of the country.

“This, I believe, aligns perfectly with the objectives of OR, which has proven itself to be fully committed in its advocacy for advancements in national governance and leveraging the immense potential of NGOs for national gain.
