NASSU, BAHAMAS – Fox Hill Prison, by any other name, is undoubtedly in need of some serious reforms. Academics, politicians, humanitarians, and others may come up with various brilliant plans and policies to address the many problems which beset this antiquated institution, as well as those who pass through its doors.
While many might search near and far for remedies of all sorts, this simple suggestion, right under our noses, could be of immeasurable value – namely, regularly bathing these dirty, stinking criminals might be the answer to the high rate of recidivism, as well as a preventative incentive!
This is the way the proposed plan would work: Respective incarcerated individuals will be required to proceed in an orderly fashion down a specially designed corridor and pass beneath a continuous shower system. High powered soapy water would pour down on them in the first section followed by a high powered rinse in the next section, and then heated air would dry these individuals in the final section of this corridor. Prisoners would then dress in clean clothes (hopefully the administration has purchased and installed the new washing machines and dryers by now) and be returned to their assigned quarters. Morning, noon, and night will be the scheduled times of these daily mandatory showers.
Such a regimen is bound to change even the most hardened, dingy, committed enemy of society.
To enter the penal system as dirty, stinkin’ offenders, and leave as clean, refreshed persons would be a win/win outcome for both society as well as those clean reformed individuals who were made to mandatorily clean up their acts.
