NASSAU BAHAMAS – Old Bahama Bay employees were barred from accessing the resort property today as Lubert Adler–Old Bahama Bay (LRA-OBB), the ownership entity, moved to take control of the West End resort.
The action follows months of legal wrangling between Lubert Adler–Old Bahama Bay (LRA-OBB), the resort’s ownership entity, and Island Ventures Resort and Club (IVRC), the company that has managed the property on behalf of condominium owners since 2011.
LRA-OBB’s attorney, Michael Scott, KC, has consistently maintained that IVRC was operating under a “bare licence” that granted no ownership or leasehold interest in the resort. He argued that LRA-OBB was legally entitled to terminate the arrangement, remove IVRC from the property, and assume control of resort operations.
The dispute has centered on LRA-OBB’s efforts to regain possession and transition management of the resort, a process that has been delayed for months amid disagreements over operations, staffing, banking arrangements, and the handover of the property.
The management dispute dates back to the collapse of the Ginn development more than a decade ago, after which condominium owners formed IVRC to oversee day-to-day resort operations while broader ownership issues remained unresolved.
Eyewitness News understands that employees associated with IVRC were denied access to the property during today’s takeover as LRA-OBB moved forward with its efforts to assume control of the resort.
Eyewitness News has reached out to representatives of Island Ventures Resort and Club for comment and will update this story if a response is received.
