New alcohol delivery service launched on NP

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Springbok Company Ltd, a Bahamian-owned, South African-focused wine and spirits company, has officially launched its e-commerce alcohol marketplace.

Formed in 2017 out of a desire to share a love of South Africa throughout The Bahamas, the company made a decision to operate solely as an e-commerce-based business. Before the launch of its new site, customers made purchases using the company’s social media.

Springbok Company President Jamal Gray said the decision is one that proved effective amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The wines and spirits market in The Bahamas is extremely competitive,” Gray said.

“Realizing this, we opted to operate without the traditional brick and mortar store to keep the overhead cost to a minimum, which gives us a chance to compete in the market.”

He added, “Our business model is proving to be even more effective given the new norm. Persons are opting for the safety and convenience of delivery services.

“Though we are virtual, we are still connected to the needs of our customers utilizing social media platforms as well as the live chat option on our store.”

Springbok describes itself as “a one-stop-shop for South African wines, gins and chasers”. It now joins other local businesses that have shifted to offering online purchasing and delivery options in the COVID-19 era.
