Man shot in car, dies in hospital
The murder count climbed again last night after a man was killed in what police said was gun violence in the southeastern district of New Providence.
Police said the victim was sitting in his vehicle outside a bar in Kennedy Subdivision off Soldier Road, when he was approached by a group of men.
One of the men, police said, was armed.
The gunman, who was carrying an unspecified type of firearm, opened fire on the man, police said. The victims body was riddled with bullets, however, police did not confirm how many times the victim was hit.
Police said the culprit, and the rest of the group that accompanied him, fled the scene after the incident unfolded.
The victim was transported to hospital, where police said, he later died.
Investigations are said to be ongoing, however, officers issued an appeal to anyone with information that could help solve this latest murder, to please come forward by contacting Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-8477 (TIPS).
This latest incident follows a recent pronouncement by National Security Minister Marvin Dames, that major crime is down in the capital.
Dames told Eyewitness News that the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s (RBPF) recently launched neighborhood watch program has proven successful in helping curb incidents across communities in New Providence.
