NASSAU, BAHAMAS— MSC Cruises marked a major milestone in its long-term investment in The Bahamas with the inaugural arrival of MSC Grandiosa in Nassau on December 7, followed by her maiden call to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve on December 8. The visits are part of the ship’s winter Caribbean program, offering round-trip itineraries from Port Canaveral, Florida, and reinforce MSC’s commitment to expanding guest access while supporting local communities.
“The arrival of MSC Grandiosa to Nassau and Ocean Cay speaks directly to our long-term vision for The Bahamas. Each maiden call represents more than a ceremonial moment; it signals our dedication to creating meaningful, sustainable growth alongside our Bahamian partners,” said Rick Sasso, Chairman (USA).
With four ships regularly calling Nassau and Ocean Cay during the Winter 25/26 season, MSC Cruises anticipates increased visitor spending and strengthened partnerships with local businesses and tourism stakeholders. This deployment aligns with the company’s multiyear strategy to enhance guest access to The Bahamas while promoting job creation, destination development, and community impact programs.
“We are delighted to welcome MSC Grandiosa on her inaugural call to Nassau. Each new Nassau deployment by MSC Cruises reinforces their long-term commitment to The Bahamas and strengthens the collaboration we have built over the years. We look forward to ending the year with 178 calls and to expanding the ways we work together to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests,” said Michael Maura Jr., Chief Executive Officer, Nassau Cruise Port.
During MSC Grandiosa’s Caribbean sailings, guests enjoy immersive onboard experiences paired with extended time ashore. At Ocean Cay, visitors can explore pristine beaches, Bahamian-inspired leisure offerings, marine conservation initiatives led by the MSC Foundation, and quiet lagoon hideaways. The island is a regular destination for both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, bringing visitors from around the world to experience The Bahamas.
Ocean Cay is also home to the MSC Foundation’s Super Coral Reefs Programme and Marine Conservation Center, reflecting MSC Cruises’ commitment to sustainable tourism and the protection of marine life.
