MIYA nominated for Water Company of the Year

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — MIYA, an international water company, was recently nominated in the Global Water Awards for Water Company of the Year.

The contributions of the sector MIYA Bahamas have aided in MIYA international becoming a nominee.

In 2012, MIYA Bahamas began its plan to improve the water service in The Bahamas through a 10-year contract they won a bid on, with the International Development Bank (IDB) and Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC).

Specifically on New providence, MIYA has made improvements in the water quality, flow and accessibility in local communities.

Sarah Kirkby, marketing agent of MIYA Bahamas, said: “MIYA international was very pleased to tell us in our meetings in The Bahamas about being shortlisted for this award. We know the company is absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted and also that they are listed with such phenomenal companies.”

Kirkby further said MIYA wanted to note the great success the company has had in The Bahamas through the developments made in the water system and their work to improve non-revenue water.

MIYA is a Madrid-based “efficiency-oriented” water company currently operating in Portugal, the Caribbean – including The Bahamas, Brazil, the Philippines and Southern Africa. It has a range of services from water efficiency and water treatment to commercial management. The company aids in providing a safe water supply to different countries that are in need of assistance.

Other companies that were nominated in the same category as MIYA include Metito, Saur and SKion Water.
