Mingoes players ready for homecoming games

Members of the University of The Bahamas (UB) men’s basketball team are excited to go against international competition this weekend.

The team plays a pair of games against the University of the Virgin Islands, beginning tonight at 7 p.m. at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium. Game two of the series will also be played at Kendal Isaacs on Saturday at the same time. The games are a part of UB’s homecoming weekend celebrations.

Coming off two losses at the Governors State University Jaguars Tip-Off Classic, Mingoes players say they’re ready to get in the win column.

“We’re practicing every day trying to build our team chemistry. Just getting ready to compete and I think we are ready,” said UB guard Ramon Dames.

“Mingoes forward Kemsey Sylvester added: “We have just been working to get as many shots up as we can. We have also been working on getting the ball in the post, to bring a more balanced attack on the court. We’ve been doing a lot of running, working on our defense and we’re prepared to work our hardest to make sure we win these next two games.”
