Min. of Foreign Affairs issues advisory to Bahamians travelling during the holidays

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday issued an advisory to Bahamians travelling during the holiday season, warning that Bahamian travel documents are amongst the most highly sought-after documents in the world.

“During the upcoming holiday season, many Bahamians will travel to various parts of the world for any variety of reasons. This is a time of joy and happiness to visit family, friends and loved ones or simply to have an enjoyable vacation.

“Unfortunately, this is also a time when travelers fall prey to unfortunate events such as theft and physical attacks,” outlined a statement released yesterday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry also reminded all members of the traveling public to exercise proper care and precaution during their holiday travel, especially to safeguard money, valuables and travel documents.

“Should any person experience an unfortunate incident, please contact the nearest Bahamian overseas office immediately,” the Ministry advised.

“Addresses can be found on the Ministry’s website or through local directories. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its best wishes to all for a wonderful holiday season.”
