Men’s 4×400 team wins silver at Commonwealth Games

Team Bahamas ended it’s time at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on a high note on Saturday.

The men’s 4×400 metre (m) relay team finished second in the event final in a season’s best 3.01.92, mustering up a silver medal and the country’s fourth medal overall.

The team that won the relay medal was made up by Alonzo Russell, Stephen Newbold, Teray Smith and Ojay Ferguson.

Botswana won the race in 3:01.78, while regional rival Jamaica was third in 3:01.97.

Also in track and field action, Latario Collie finished 11th overall in the men’s triple jump final with a leap of 15.90m.

Aside from athletics, Rashji Mackey was the only other athlete to represent The Bahamas on Saturday. He lost 3-1 to Kevin Wallen, from Jamaica, in the final of the men’s 86 kilogram (kg) freestyle.
