International modeling agent looks to cast Bahamian models

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — An international modeling agent will visit The Bahamas this week in hopes of providing local models with the opportunity of walking in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Pia Rolle, president of PTG Marketing and Modeling Agency, said that international casting director and former model, Sandi Bass, will attend the company’s casting event on Saturday.

Mercedes Benz Fashion week attracts thousands of spectators, industry professionals, media and influencers from across the globe.

The biannual event is considered a milestone for models of all ages and can act as a solidified springboard into mainstream fashion and modeling.

“New York Fashion Week is one of the premier, if not the premier fashion week.” Rolle said.

“This is the event that every model wants to be able to say that he or she has walked in.”

Rolle said Saturday’s event is important when it comes to providing models with an opportunity to expand their portfolio and become household names internationally.

But, she also warned that the modeling as a career requires consistency and hard work.

“It’s very important for local models to aspire to want to be an international model, but there’s a process to getting there,” she said.

“There’s training, development and being able to prove that you’ve outgrown your local model.”

The event is open to PTG models as well as the general public.

The fee to enter for models signed to PTG is $30, while other entrants and models signed to other companies will be required to pay $50.

Rolle said amateurs should not be intimidated by the event, as they can be chosen for Fashion Week just as much as professional models.

“If you have no experience whatsoever, that’s even better,” she said.

“It makes you easier to work with. This is open to amateurs and professionals.”

The event is scheduled for July 20thfrom 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

It will take place at PTG Modeling Agency located on Village Road.

The deadline for registration is July 19th.
