Government open to private sector talks on WTO

After extensive consultations with stakeholders, the ministry of financial services trade and industry has now submitted all necessary negotiating inputs required for World Trade Organization (WTO) accession, according to Financial Services Minister Brent Symonette.

A delegation that includes himself, as well as  Financial Secretary Marlon Johnson and newly appointed lead negotiator for government Zhivargo Laing, will head to Geneva, Switzerland next week to dicsuss The Bahamas finally joining the organization.

Laing said, the team is still open to suggestions from the business community ahead of the negotiations.
