Four-year-old boy in critical condition after near-drowning at Grand Bahama Resort

NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a near-drowning incident that took place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at a resort in the Lucayan area involving a four-year-old boy.

Initial reports indicate that around 3:00 p.m., the child was at the children’s pool with a female family member who briefly stepped away to assist the boy’s sibling. Upon her return, the child was found unconscious in the pool. A lifeguard on duty responded swiftly, pulling the boy from the water and administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the ambulance arrived.

The child was transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention and remains in critical condition.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
