Former US President Jimmy Carter dies at 100

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Former United States of America President Jimmy Carter, the nation’s 39th president and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, passed away today at the age of 100 in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
The Carter Center confirmed his death, noting that he was the longest-living president in U.S. history.
Carter’s presidency from 1977 to 1981 was marked by significant events, including the Camp David Accords and the Iran hostage crisis. After leaving office, he dedicated his life to humanitarian efforts, founding the Carter Center and working with Habitat for Humanity, earning him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, who passed away in November 2023.
