Former Prime Minister Perry Christie recovering well after heart procedure

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Former Prime Minister Perry Christie is reportedly recovering well and in “excellent spirits” after undergoing a corrective procedure for an acute heart condition.

According to Latrae Rahming, Director of Communications for the Office of the Prime Minister, in a social media post, Christie was admitted to Doctors Hospital on Saturday, August 3rd, with symptoms of the condition.

Rahming stated that Christie successfully underwent a corrective procedure performed by interventional cardiologist Dr. Bimal Francis and his team.

“He is now convalescing remarkably well. He is awake, alert, and in excellent spirits. Mr. Christie is being cared for by a team that includes Dr. Francis (Cardiology), Intensivist Dr. Adrian Cargill, and Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr. Duane Sands,” Rahming said.

Rahming also stated: “PM Christie and his family are deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers and expressions of concern. He will remain hospitalized for several more days and is looking forward to a full recovery. To ensure he can rest and recuperate fully, phone calls and visits will be restricted during this period.”
