Finalists in search for next UB President revealed

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The University of The Bahamas (UB) is nearing the conclusion of its search for a new president, with three finalists emerging after a national and international recruitment process.

According to UB, The finalists are:

Dr. Maria E. Woodside-Oriakhi: A UB alumna with over 25 years in academia, recognized for advancing quality standards, fostering global partnerships, and overseeing academic preparation for SACSCOC accreditation.

Dr. Robert J. Blaine, III: A seasoned academic leader with expertise in SACSCOC accreditation, fundraising, and strategic planning, currently serving as Senior Executive & Director of the Centre for LEAD at the National League of Cities.

Dr. Leroy Hamilton, Jr.: An educator with more than 30 years of experience in higher education, known for securing major grant funding and serving as an accreditation liaison.

The process now moves to the campus engagement phase, where each finalist will visit UB’s Oakes Field Campus to meet with key stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community representatives.
