Duo charged with murder

Two men were arraigned in Magistrates court for murder and attempted murder, respectively.

Mark Kemp, 38, was brought before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt, charged with the September 7 murder of Lamon Johnson and the attempted murder of Pedro Henfield.

According to police reports, shortly after 9:00 a.m. on the day in question, the victims were sitting under a tree in Fox Hill, when a man exited a vehicle and fired shots at them. Reports say they were hit multiple times and taken to hospital by a private vehicle, where Johnson later died of his injuries.

Kemp was denied bail and remanded to the Department of Corrections until December 4, when he will return to court for the presentation of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

The second man, Rashad Reid, was charged with the murder of Kiria Musgrove and the attempted murder of Austin Pinder.

According to reports, shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, a woman and two men were sitting in a vehicle outside a home on Peach Street, Pastel Gardens, when the man who was sitting in the rear seat, produced a firearm and shot the man and woman.

Police said the male victim was able to escape from the vehicle and ran to a house for assistance.

The suspect, police said, drove off in the vehicle along with the female. She was discovered dead the next day on a farm off of Cowpen road.

He was not required to enter a plea to the charges and was remanded to the DOC until December 4.
