Drug confiscation leads to arrest

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On Thursday August 22, 2024, Operation Ceasefire, a joint operation between the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, led to the confiscation of suspected marijuana and the apprehension of a 33-year-old male.

According to reports, around 7:00 p.m., officers from Operation Ceasefire, with the assistance of
the K-9 Unit, while executing a search warrant at a residence on John Road, off Market Street,
observed a male fleeing the area while holding a bag.

Officers pursued and detained this male, and
following a search, they discovered that the bag contained a package of suspected marijuana, police said.

Subsequently, the male was taken into police custody, investigators revealed.

The suspected marijuana weighed 1 pound, 10.75 ounces, with an estimated street value of $2,000.00.

Investigations continue into this matter.
