Dr Minnis urges inquiry into gangs

play-sharp-fill

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis is calling for Prime Minister Philip Davis to initiate a commission of inquiry into the prevalence of criminal gangs in The Bahamas.

His call comes off the heels of a police probe being launched into the bribery allegations against head of the Criminal investigation department Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson.

Dr. Minnis says the Bahamian people deserve transparency and accountability from its law enforcement agencies and that those who believe they are above the law must not continue to act.
