Derek Jeter invitational returns to The Bahamas in 2024

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation has announced the return of the Derek Jeter Invitational (DJI), scheduled to take place from September 19 to 22, 2024, at Baha Mar, The Bahamas’ premier luxury resort.

The star-studded event will feature celebrities from sports and entertainment competing in a two-day golf tournament at Baha Mar’s Royal Blue Golf Course, a Jack Nicklaus signature design. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Turn 2 Foundation’s programs that aim to empower youth.

The 2024 Invitational will see an array of famous faces, including Anthony Anderson, Kevin Connolly, Johnny Damon, D-Nice, Flo Rida, CC Sabathia, and Paige Spiranac, among others, joining the Baseball Hall of Famer for a weekend of charity-driven competition and entertainment.

In a statement, Jeter emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “As young people immerse themselves in Turn 2’s programs, they not only recognize their ability to achieve their goals, but they also discover they hold the power to make a difference in their local communities and beyond. This event is about so much more than a golf tournament – it plays a pivotal role in enabling the Turn 2 Foundation to drive meaningful change every day.”

The festivities kick off on Thursday, September 19, with a welcome party at Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House, hosted by Angie Martinez and featuring music from DJ and philanthropist D-Nice. The golf tournament, pairing celebrities with amateur participants, begins on Friday, September 20, at the Royal Blue Golf Course, followed by a celebrity shootout.

The event will conclude with a gala on Saturday evening, hosted by Martinez, featuring a red carpet and a live performance by rapper Flo Rida.

As part of the partnership with Baha Mar, the Turn 2 Foundation will donate $50,000 to the Baha Mar Resort Foundation, which supports causes related to community, culture, and conservation throughout The Bahamas.

“We are proud to support Derek Jeter and the Turn 2 Foundation on this incredible invitational for a third consecutive year,” said Graeme Davis, President of Baha Mar. “We deeply appreciate the Foundation’s generous contribution to the Baha Mar Resort Foundation, which will be used to fund programs benefiting the Bahamian community.”

Proceeds from the event will directly support Turn 2 Foundation’s mission to empower youth by helping them overcome negative influences and fostering leadership, positive change, and healthy lifestyles. Since its inception in 2003, the Invitational has raised millions to support the Foundation’s work.

The Derek Jeter Invitational has attracted numerous stars over the years, including Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Russell Wilson, with past musical performances from Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhymes. This year’s event promises to continue the tradition of blending entertainment and philanthropy to support a worthy cause.

Founded by Jeter in 1996, the Turn 2 Foundation works to inspire young people through initiatives promoting academic success, leadership, and positive behavior.
