Concord Wilshire announces start of demolition at the Grand Lucayan

NASSAU, BAHAMAS— Concord Wilshire Group on Monday announced that demolition has officially commenced at the Grand Lucayan Resort, marking the first major step in the redevelopment of the property into a multi-phase tourism and entertainment destination anchored by an MSC Beach Club.

The company says initial work includes securing and fencing the site following the approval of all required demolition permits, signaling the start of visible construction activity on the long-awaited project.

The redevelopment, led through subsidiary Ancient Waters Bahamas Limited, will transform the former resort into a cruise and tourism hub featuring an MSC Beach Club, cruise ship resort facilities, a casino, a mega yacht marina, and a branded hotel.

CEO Richard Bosworth said the start of demolition represents the shift from planning to execution.

“The commencement of demolition represents the first tangible step in activating the long-awaited revitalization of the Grand Lucayan Resort… this moment signals the transition from planning to execution and reflects our continued commitment to delivering a project that will have a meaningful and lasting impact on the local economy,” Bosworth said.

He said the project is expected to generate jobs during both construction and long-term operations, while supporting broader tourism growth in Grand Bahama.

Concord Wilshire President Nate Sirang said the start of physical work reflects progress on the development timeline.

“The commencement of physical work on site underscores the progress that has been made to date and reinforces the forward momentum of the project,” Sirang said.

Prime Minister Philip Davis welcomed the start of demolition, calling it a key milestone for Grand Bahama’s economic revitalization.

“This commencement of demolition marks an important step forward in the revitalization of Grand Bahama,” Davis said.

He added that the redevelopment represents a meaningful investment in jobs, tourism, and long-term economic growth, while also pointing to strong investor confidence in The Bahamas.

The project is expected to move forward in phases as the site is transformed into a major tourism and cruise-linked destination.
