NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) said yesterday it had resolved issues that had resulted in repeated power outages in the Central Andros community.
Quincy Parker, BPL Director of Public Relations said: “We had some issues with a piece of equipment on one of the generators that necessitated load shedding. The issue took some time to repair, but it is fixed and the community has had its power restored.”
One concerned resident said: “The people of Central Andros are very frustrated and disgusted with the frequency of power outages occurring. This has been going on for quite some time and nobody seems to be able to address this issue.
“Power was off again Saturday morning for over three hours came back for about two hours then shortly after 5pm off again until after 4am this Sunday morning. This is a reoccurring issue with BPL. We are paying for a service that we are not getting.”
The resident added: “This is very frustrating being in the dark with small children, mosquitoes biting and the streets are dark. There needs to be an investigation into what is happening at this plant.”
