NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A group of Bahamian students from The University of The Bahamas, Alabama A&M University, Jarvis Christian University, Philander Smith University and Stillman College were in New Orleans for the 22nd annual HBCU Kings & Queens conference held August 1-4 ,2024.
The delegation consisted of four (4) queens and six (6) kings within the Historically Black College and University (HBCU) community. Their presence as international students was celebrated by their peers during the highlight of the conference, The Masquerade Ball.
The Leadership for Queens and Kings’ Konnection Conference is designed to expose college students to leadership and etiquette skills, which will enhance their collegiate and life experience.
The gathering targets HBCU students who serve as the official king and queen of their institution, and hold Miss or Mister leadership titles, these students gather annually to network and to obtain insights from trained professionals on subjects including (but not limited to) articulation, stage presence, etiquette, confidence and professionalism. As an added takeaway, student participants also receive year-long support, ranging from mentorship and resources to hands-on training.
