Staff in the national flag carrier’s reservations department received official word Wednesday that the company is closing down the department.
Employees in Bahamasair’s reservations department in New Providence and Grand Bahama received a company communication yesterday, which informed workers that the functions of the department will be outsourced to a private entity in Grand Bahama.
The move will affect some 14 employees, Eyewitness News understands.
The letter further stated that the decision was based on a better efficiency model as well as a cost savings measure.
The letter said that staff will not be affected and that all employees will be reassigned over the next 60 days.
Eyewitness News understands that the airline has scheduled a meeting at 10:00 a.m. today with the affected staff.
