NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Baha Mar Resort, a sponsor of the Valley Boys Junkanoo Group, has not confirmed how it will maneuver its annual sponsorship for the legacy Junkanoo group which is currently experiencing infighting; the group remains divided in a battle over leadership and allegations of poor management.
The resort indicated on Monday that it has only met with one of the two factions of the Valley Boys; but assured media that it intends to meet with the other body of junkanooers in the coming days.
Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at the resort Robert Sands said the overall goal is to foster unity within the group ahead of the cultural parades. He remains hopeful that the split can be remedied, for the group to rush as a unified body and sort out its differences following the dual parades.
