NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Nearly one hundred taxi drivers voiced their concerns to Eyewitness News this afternoon, alleging that Road Traffic Workers at Lynden Pindling International Airport are unfairly directing potential passengers to Livery Driver services instead of taxis.
Leslie Cartwright, Chair of LPIA Taxi Drivers, explained that this alleged practice is severely impacting their livelihoods. Cartwright emphasized that Livery Services charge significantly higher prices than taxis, leading tourists to mistakenly believe they are hiring a taxi. This misunderstanding, he added, tarnishes the reputation of taxi drivers when customers complain.
During a gathering at the LPIA taxi recreational lot, drivers demanded an immediate resolution to this issue to prevent further adverse consequences.
