37 Haitian nationals charged in Inagua court with illegal landing

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A total of 37 Haitian nationals were charged in an Inagua court on Thursday, April 11, 2019 with illegal landing.

A statement released from the Department of Immigration on Thursday said the group, comprised of 30 males and seven females, were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt in the magistrate’s court in Matthew Town, Inagua.

The Haitian nationals were convicted of Illegal Landing and were ordered conditional discharge.

Early deportation was also recommended.

The Department of Immigration said Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt, along with a team of Immigration Officials, arrived in Inagua on Thursday morning for proceedings.
