NASSAU, BAHAMAS- Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Monday, 29th June 2026, which claimed the life of a 22-year-old man and left a 20-year-old woman hospitalized.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 1:00 a.m., ShotSpotter Technology detected multiple gunshots in the area of Constitution Drive, off Foster Street. Police also received reports that a man and a woman had been shot.
Officers responded to the scene, where they discovered an unresponsive male seated in the driver’s seat of a silver Suzuki Swift with multiple gunshot wounds. A female victim was also found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper right thigh and abdomen.
Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the male victim and confirmed that he showed no signs of life. The female victim was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased and the female victim had just arrived at a residence on Constitution Drive when the woman exited the vehicle and entered the residence. As she returned to the vehicle, the occupants of a white Japanese-model vehicle approached and opened fire in their direction.
The male sustained fatal injuries, while the female was wounded. The suspects then fled the scene, travelling south along Foster Street.
Detectives later visited the hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that the female victim remains in stable condition.
The investigation continues.
